When To Embroider & When To Screen

As a company, it is important to have a logo that is easily remembered but still recognizable to a lot of people. It is a part of the entire branding of the company, so it should not be treated as an afterthought. You cannot underestimate the power of a good logo. Sometimes, it can even make or break a business.

You also need to remember that this logo is going to be put on the uniforms of your employees. They are the representatives of your company. It should not come as a surprise that they also need to wear something that can make that even more effective. There are two ways that you can do so: embroidery and screen printing. Both have their advantages and pitfalls. What should you choose?

Embroidery

The world of embroidery has been around for a long time. It is the original choice if you want to have something printed on a T-shirt. With the advent of digital and mechanized printers, it seems that this technique was predicted to die off. Unfortunately for them, embroidery is still being used by a lot of companies as their choice.

One of the greater things about it is the longevity of the designs. Due to the use of threads, it is guaranteed to last for a long time. Some even claim that the shirts can disintegrate already but the embroidered pattern would still be there. It is great for uniforms that are going to be used every day since it is washer friendly.

However, one of the major drawbacks of this technique is the time and color. Gone are the days of hand embroidery, but it is still slower than print even with the machines. Also, the colors and patterns that you can do are more limited due to the limitations of intricacy. Threads patterned together can only go so far.

Screen Print

As you all know, this style of printing uses stencils as a way to make patterns. This is then put on the shirt, where it will guide the ink on where to go. When compared to the previous option, this is the more popular way of doing prints.

The best thing about screen printing is the faster turnout of results. You can easily order in bulk, and you do not have to worry about limitations aside from your budget. The designs can also be as intricate as you want, as stencils can be formed freely. It does have complicated patterns that embroidery cannot even follow.

When it comes to longevity though, this is where the screen print lacks. The technology involved with the ink has been improving but it would never outlast the embroidered patterns. The ink can be washed away by detergent, so it would be best to handwash the shirt if you want it to last for a long time.

Conclusion

If you want something that can still be used by your employees to the next generation, then embroidery is a good option. On the other hand, the screen print is great if you want to have the shirts immediately. It is also great for short-term campaigns and marketing endeavors.
